What are key success metrics to review for my online shop?

The following are metrics to help you measure success and/or make improvement decisions for your online shop:

  • Visits/Sessions: The number of times customers are visiting your site
  • Number of Orders: Total number of purchases
  • Revenue: Total sales amount
  • Sales Conversion Rates: Percentage of visits that end in a purchase
  • Abandonment Rates: 
    • Shopping Cart: Percentage of time customers add items to their cart but do not complete the purchase
    • Checkout: Percentage of time customers enter the checkout but do not complete the purchase
    • Exit pages: The page in which customers are leaving your site
  • Average Order Value: Calculated by dividing total revenue to number of orders
  • Retention Rate: Percentage of customers maintained overtime
